The founder of Youth for Development is Mr. Md. Harun-Or-Rahid who is a Young Government Officer of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Mr. Harun is now working as an Assistant Chief at Ministry of Shipping, Bangladesh. His primary responsibilities are to look after the government project.
Mr. Md. Harun-Or-Rahid was born in 1987 in Bangladesh. He received BA (Honors) degree in Information Science & Library Management with first class in 2010 from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Then He achieved Regional Masters degree in Journalism, Media & Communication from the same university with Norway government scholarship in 2012. In 2015, he received another Masters Degree in Public Policy subject from the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Tokyo, Japan with Japanese Government scholarship. .
Mr. Harun has a wealth account of organizing activities, such as in student life, he was the founder convener of University Students Association of Habiganj (USA), Senior Rover Mate of Dhaka University Rover Scout Group, General Secretary of Surjasen Hall Debating Club, Cultural Secretary of Jalalabad Students Association of Dhaka University and Press secretary of Dhaka University Tourist Society. Besides this, in 2008, he achieved the President’s Rover Scout Award, the highest award in scouting given by the honorable president. In 2009, University of Dhaka conferred on him the honorary Blue Award in acknowledgement of his best performance in scouting. He also got champion prize at Asia Pacific Regional Youth Competition organized by Asia pacific regional Scout at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2009. In 2012, he was nominated by the government of Bangladesh for SAARC Youth Award.
Mr. Harun already visited USA, Mexico, Russia, Germany, Turkey, Japan, Egypt, China, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Nepal, Bhutan, and India for different purpose like higher education, training, public service and personal work. Harun is married and has been blessed with a daughter.
